Field Notes

Field notes from an Irish winter. From towering 20-foot swells at Mullaghmore to the aftermath of the historic Storm Eowyn, which brought winds of up to 180 km/h along the Irish coast.

This November, Alice Ward's latest short film, SALT, made its debut in both London and Ireland, earning acclaim along the way. The film was awarded ‘Best International Short’ at the London Surf Film Festival and ‘Best Short’ at the Irish Surf Film Festival.

SALT is currently on its international tour screening in various locations around the world.

SaLT Film Premiere

Women of the sea film fund

Sea Pea Films is honoured to share that Alice’s project SALT has been awarded the 2024 Women of the Sea Film Fund, selected from a global shortlist of 50 films.

Brought to life in creative partnership with Finisterre and the London Surf / Film Festival, SALT will make its world premiere at the Festival in October 2024.

Cyanotype Animation

The Third Eye - A recent cyanotype animation made in The Sea Pea Studios featuring 50 handmade prints.

Cyanotypes are one of the oldest photographic printing processes created in 1842. They are made by exposing light-sensitive iron salts on paper to UV light, then rinsing it with water.

OIshii Film Launch

In November 2023, 'Oishii' premiered at the Irish Surf Film Festival in Galway City and secured a place among the top three finalist films.

Combining elemental aspects of the Atlantic Ocean and refined culinary practices of Japan. This film relates the tale of Julian Farmer, an Australian surfer engaging with two cultures, fusing his love of surf and food to enrich the communities he passes through.
